The lamp was designed by Mathias Hahn in 2016. The Greek goddess Theia – the mother of the sun, moon and dawn – gave her name to the lamp whose design is to express the beauty of light and our fascination with it. In the case of Thei, materials and shapes are only a physical manifestation of the basic concept: the combination of light and shadow in one element.
Theia has two faces: to discover them, it is enough to turn the lamp around its central axis. It can be directed towards you and serve as a reading lamp or towards an object or wall, creating a subtle, intermediate light that immediately warms the atmosphere. Because the metal diffuser Thei is completely concealed, the rotation completely changes the perception of the work.
The Thei design is elementary and elegant: two hemispheres, one placed horizontally, and the other vertically intersect. As in nature, these elements allow simultaneous projection, reflection and absorption of light from the source by objects, thus providing visual pleasure.
